The Journey of My Mother's Son

Dec 17, 2021

In this episode of “The Journey of My Mother’s Son” podcast, I sit down with Jimmy Obregon.

Jimmy is in the discipleship program at the Dream Center of Southeast Texas.

He is one of the incredible humans that Sandy and I have been blessed to meet while we’ve been volunteering at the Dream Center.

The people here are all living examples of God’s grace and redemption.  Each of them is at a different stage of their recovery journey.  They are all strengthening their faith in God and understanding that their recovery is only possible with God and surrounding themselves with a strong support system.

At 13 years old, Jimmy started smoking pot and as he got older began experimenting with other types of drugs.  Eventually his addiction landed him in prison.  After serving two years in prison, he got out and while having difficulty dealing with the feelings that he was experiencing from the passing of his father, he relapsed after only two weeks.

After an ultimatum from his family, he reluctantly entered the program at the Dream Center in January of 2021.

After accepting responsibility for his actions, Jimmy is determined to become the father and husband that God intended him to be.
